The tour starts in Wellington taking you and your camera around the Kapiti Coast and Manawatu Beaches and where you will capture the majestic Te Horo Beach, Waitarere Beach, Foxton Beach and more.
Summary of the tour
A one-day off-road photography tour. On this tour, you’ll have the chance to observe the wildlife, practising macros and long exposure shots, and capturing stunning coastal sunsets while exploring the wild beaches of Kapiti Coast and the Foxton area.
The tour is designed to offer you a unique experience, giving you the chance to access isolated places, revealing the native wild landscapes to your camera.
The tour starts in Wellington heading north on SH1 to Kapiti Coast. The first touch of the sand will be at Peka Peka Beach. We'll then drive up to the very end of Te Horo Beach. On the way will take a moment to shoot scenic views unfolded all around. An incredible diversity of subjects are waiting for us at the place where the Otaki River spreads into the sea.
Forced by the river, we will have to return to SH1. But it shouldn't take too long before we are getting back off-road.
One of the most sensational views of the day starts with Waitohu Stream, and it ends 10 kilometres towards the north, with the water flow of Ohau River. It's the best chance to watch hundreds of birds hovering around, taking-off and landing, sometimes splashing water everywhere. At dusk, a sumptuous flock of seabirds is soaring and darting and circling above the heads as they descend onto the black beach to roost for the evening.
Foxton Beach is the start of a new segment of our adventure. This time we are splashing the water of two streams on the way to Tangimoana Beach. Spectacular reflections on the wet black sand where we test our photographic creativity. Everything from clouds, birds or silhouettes create beautiful compositions. A bundle of driftwood abandoned by nature and polished by waves and wind is waiting for us.
If the weather permits, a meal will be organised on the beach. Otherwise, it will be agreed on at the beginning of the trip.
The start time of the tour will be arranged in a way to finish it with a sunset shoot. Also, we must consider the tide on the day we travel, as waves are washing some bits of the beach.
The tour is priced at $345 per person, and a minimum of 2 people is required to start. You have the option to select the tour as a private event.
